A man fatally shot someone who was trying to rob him, according to Chicago Police. The 22-year-old man was sitting in a vehicle with another male when two other males armed with handguns walked up and announced a robbery. The man then pulled out a gun and shot one of the would-be robbers, police said. The male, whose age was not immediately known, was dead at the scene. The other suspect ran away.

It was a frightening night for a pastor and his family in Northeast Philadelphia when a robber tried to attack them. Police say the 48-year-old pastor, his 38-year-old wife and 12-year-old son were returning from a concert. They were approached by a 66-year-old man with a rifle near the parking lot of the Saint James Lutheran Church. They say the suspect demanded the pastor's wallet, and then a struggle began. The pastor was hit in the head with the rifle by the bandit. "This is the first time I actually thought I'd die," said Pastor Robert Cook. His wife then pulled out a gun, she was licensed to carry, and shot the suspect in the leg, police say.

Police say the three suspects broke into the home just before 9 p.m. Once inside, one of the suspects pointed a gun at the male homeowner’s head, forced him to the ground, then checked his wallet for cash. But unbeknownst to the intruders, the woman snuck off and ran into the bedroom where she retrieved her own firearm. The woman emerged from the bedroom to find all three suspects standing over her husband. She then pointed the gun at the suspects and yelled at them to “freeze.” All three immediately ran toward the front door in an attempt to escape. As the suspects made their way to the door, the woman again told them to freeze, but her request went ignored. Two of the suspects took off, but when the third suspect turned around once he reached the door and came at the woman in what she perceived as a threatening manner, she fired two shots, striking the suspect in the shoulder.

A homeowner shot and killed an apparent would-be robber, according to Kentucky State Police. Four armed people forced their way into the home and took an undisclosed amount of cash, according to state police. Several people, including children, were in the home at the time but no one was injured. During the robbery, according to state police, an altercation occurred between the homeowner and one of the robbery suspects. Kevin J. Helton, 48, of Salt Lick, was shot and killed at the scene, according to police.

A 19-year-old clerk who shot an armed robber in his mother's corner store said the incident hasn't made him skittish. If an armed suspect tried to rob the store again, Daneurys Santo said he wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger again. At the time of the incident, there was an employee and one customer in the shop. The employee noticed two suspects approaching with white masks on and attempted to shut and lock the entrance of the shop, the sheriff said. Before he could get the door closed, the suspects got to the door and pushed until they entered the store. The employee drew a weapon and fired once at the suspects, causing them to turn and run away. They jumped into a green car and drove off. The employee told law officers he wasn't sure whether he hit either suspect.

County Sheriff's Office will not file any charges against the Subway Clerk who they say shot and killed a suspect after an armed robbery.County deputies say at around 12:30 Sunday afternoon two men with crow bars tried to rob the Subway on Gordon Highway. Investigators say during the attempted robbery, one of the suspects struck the clerk's 14-year-old son, who was in the store at the time, in the head with the crowbar, injuring the teen. That's when deputies say the clerk fired shots at both of the suspects. One of the gun shots hit Cornelius Lamar Harrison, 24, from Greensboro, North Carolina in the upper torso and later died.

A grand jury has cleared a 33-year-old Southeast Portland woman of any criminal wrongdoing for fatally shooting a stranger that she discovered in her 10-year-old daughter's bedroom. Police said Ford shot McCrary when she had come home with her children, ages 5 and 10, and encountered the stranger in her home. Oregon law says a person is justified in using "deadly physical force upon another person" if the other person is burglarizing or trying to burglarize a home.

A home invader was shot and killed while allegedly trying to steal weapons from a gun store owner’s father. Gun store owner Micheal Cargill said, “[Silva] took a ladder out of my parents’ pool [shed]…and laid it against the house and went into the second-floor bathroom window. When my stepfather heard the noise, he got up and had to stop him.” Cargill said police do not believe Silva acted alone. Rather, they believe up to four suspects could have been involved. Police said, “It appears [the Wofford’s] are well within their rights of using deadly force to protect their home.”

A teenage girl is credited for scaring off intruders at her parents’ home with a rifle. Two sisters, 12 and 13, were inside the home when they heard knocking on the front door. When they looked outside, they saw three unfamiliar men. The older sister grabbed her dad's rifle. The suspects then broke in through the back door. The 13-year-old pointed the rifle at them, causing them to run away without taking anything.
Neighbors praise the teen for her quick thinking.

A 23-year-old woman fatally shot a man who allegedly attempted to rob her at gunpoint in Glendale, Arizona. Carol Miracle and other witnesses reportedly told police that Frank Taylor, 27, approached Miracle near a convenience store and pointed his gun at her head. Fearing for her life, she drew her own handgun and fired a single shot.
